A vibrant and dazzling
city, built around one of the world's most magnificent natural harbours
with its famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Number one on everyone's list is the Circular Quay area, location of
the spectacular Sydney Opera House. Close by is the Rocks, the first European
settlement in Australia, its colourful streets and elegant buildings have
now been restored making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Walk along the foreshore and through the Royal Botanical Gardens to
the New South Wales Art Gallery and the city's museums.
The area around Hyde Park is where you'll find some of Sydney's best
shopping, along Park, Elizabeth, King and George Streets, there's a number
of beautifully restored Victorian Arcades and fine department stores.
The nearby AMP Tower offers wonderful views of Sydney from its viewing
gallery and restaurant 300m above street level.
Darling Harbour is Sydney's buzzing entertainment and leisure area,
linked to the city centre by an impressive monorail. There's a multitude
of cafés, bars, restaurants and shops around the old wharf, as
well as the Sydney Aquarium, Australian Maritime Museum and an IMAX theatre
with the largest film screen in the southern hemisphere. A delightful
Chinese Garden provides a haven of tranquillity amongst it all. |

Sydney - Beaches
