Around Australia's Nature Coast

Journey along Australia's picturesque and diverse Nature Coast, combining the quaint towns and lookouts of the Hinterlands with the rolling surf and beautiful beaches of the coast.

Highlights:

  • The unique and boutique shops of Montville and Noosa
  • Koala spotting within Noosa National Park
  • World Heritage listed Fraser Island
  • Whale Watching from Hervey Bay

Day 1: Brisbane to Montville (100 km)

Depart Brisbane for an easy one hour drive north along the Bruce Highway, to the Glass House Mountains National Park. Steeped in Aboriginal Legend, the Glass House Mountains are a series of volcanic plugs rising dramatically from the coastal plain. There are a number of panoramic lookouts and many wonderful dining options where you can sit and soak up the mystical beauty. Visit the charming towns of Montville and Maleny for magnificent views right down to the Sunshine Coast, rainforest walks, fresh local produce, cafes and fine arts and crafts.

Standard: Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge

Deluxe: Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat

Day 2: Montville to Noosa (59 km)

Experience the Sunshine Coast Hinterland; maybe even walk part of the 58km Hinterland Great Walk, a world-class walking track. Drive North to Noosa and enjoy a leisurely boat cruise of the Noosa Everglades (own expense) soaking up the natural surroundings of mangroves, birdlife and pristine waterways or wander the stylish town and join in the café culture.

Standard: Coral Beach Noosa Resort

Deluxe: The Sebel Noosa

Day 3: Noosa to the Fraser Coast (199 km)

Start the day with a stroll through Noosa National Park; this section of wild coastline jutting into the ocean is understandably one of Australia's most visited parks. Wallum heaths, woodlands and pockets of rainforest with hoop and kauri pine are important refuges for wildlife, including koalas and rare glossy black cockatoos. Jump back in the car for an easy day on the road and head north to the Fraser Coast, home to the World Heritage listed Fraser Island. Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast is the gateway to Fraser Island. From here you will board the Kingfisher Bay Resort ferry and be transported to the stunning Fraser Island.

Standard: Kingfisher Bay Resort

Deluxe: Kingfisher Bay Resort

Day 4: Fraser Island

World Heritage-listed Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, and today you will explore all its glory with a full day 4WD Fraser Island Tour. Finish off the day with a relaxing drink while watching the sun set.

Standard: Kingfisher Bay Resort

Deluxe: Kingfisher Bay Resort

Day 5: Fraser Island to Hervey Bay (20 km)

After your morning catamaran transfer back to the mainland. Hervey Bay is one of Queensland's best natural holiday destinations offering some of the best whale watching with humpback whales as well as easy access to Lady Elliot Island; the first coral cay on World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. It’s safe, sheltered waters make it an aquatic paradise perfect for year round swimming, diving, sailing, water sports and fishing. Dotted along the Hervey Bay Esplanade are cosmopolitan and alfresco cafes, shops, parklands, picnic areas, playgrounds, piers and a vibrant marina.

Standard: Emeraldene Inn & Eco Lodge

Deluxe: Mantra Hervey Bay

Day 6: Hervey Bay to Brisbane (292 km)

Heading south from Hervey Bay, drive to Tin Can Bay, one of the few places in Australia where dolphins can be hand fed in their natural environment. Or for lovers of adventure and nature, continue driving to see the coloured sands of Rainbow Beach before continuing back along the highway to Brisbane.
