A short introduction to the beautiful and historic Murray River between Walkers Flat and Murray Bridge aboard a traditional paddle steamer
Friday: Your journey begins at Mannum, as you cruise away from this historic port and enjoy welcome drinks and dinner with your fellow travellers. Spend your evening looking for unique nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank and enjoying evening entertainment. Watch for grey kangaroos, hair-nosed wombats, Murray longnecked tortoises, spoon-beaked egrets and many other species.
Saturday: After breakfast join a guided tour of the historic town of Murray Bridge's landmarks and local attractions. This afternoon cruise up river and learn about the unique fauna, florua, food and wine of the region with an on board talk. Dinner is served moored along the banks of the river.
Sunday: Disembark the Murray Princess for a guided nature walk of the local flora and fauna before Murray Princess departs for the big river gorges and 90 metre cliffs of the upper river. Further down river board a smaller vessel which will take you on a backwater wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, explore the maze of backwaters, creeks and lagoons. Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges. Late afternoon, photography enthusiasts have a great opportunity to capture a spectacular river sunset, before joining the Captain and Officers for pre-dinner drinks and the finale Captain's Dinner and Dance.
