Perth, the capital of Western Australia is a vibrant young city with a wonderful year-round sunny climate. Built along the banks of the Swan River, it's compact, easy and rewarding to explore.

Kings Park overlooks the city and is a favourite picnic spot with nature trails, a botanic garden and fantastic views over the city. Perth Zoo is set in beautiful, landscaped gardens and at Hillarys Harbour there's the Perth Aquarium with an underwater tunnel to get you up close to sharks and rays. In the city you can visit the historic Perth Mint or climb the new Millennium Bell Tower.

Perth also boasts some excellent ocean beaches that rank amongst the best in the world, within half an hours drive of the city centre. City Beach, Scarborough, Cottesloe and Sorrento all have white sand and lovely blue sea, restaurants and shops and unmissable sunsets.

Just 15 minutes by train from the city is the port of Fremantle with its busy marina built to host the Americas Cup Yacht Race. This fashionable town has an exciting mix of entertainment, maritime history and culture and the street cafes are not to be missed.
