Why not check out the world’s oldest rainforest on Australia holidays?

September 2nd, 2010

Those who are planning a trip down under may like to take in the Daintree Rainforest.

The location – the world's oldest one of its kind, according to Tourism Australia – could be ideal for people looking for relaxation on Australia holidays.

More than 3,000 plant species are present at the site and there are one-fifth of the known-Aussie bird types to enjoy, including the cassowary.

Visitors can get the chance to cruise along the crocodile-infested river or go on a stroll through the ecosystem, as well as take a night-time walk.

Two of the more unusually-named plants that can be found include the Idiot Fruit – which the website noted was arguably one of the country's most significant botanical finds – and the Wait A While, which is known as the Lawyer Plant.

Moreover, those into their foliage might also like to visit the Floriade festival, which begins on September 11th until October 10th in Canberra.
