A 3 day journey to the beautiful Bay of Islands which can be a memorable extension to any of our self drives.
Day 1 - Auckland/Waitangi or Opua (235km)
Collect your rental car and make your way north to Waitangi in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure in the Bay of Islands. The Bay of Islands is one of the most historical parts of New Zealand. At Waitangi on Febuary 6th, 1840, the Maori Chiefs ceded sovereignty to Queen Victoria. The Treaty House is now an historic museum. The coastal waters are renowned for thrilling deep-sea fishing for marlin, swordfish and other game fish. Light-tackle fishing for yellowtail provides year-round sport.

Day 2 - Waitangi or Opua Bay of Islands
This morning enjoy the famous Cape Brett “hole in the rock” cruise out through the beautiful Bay of Islands. At Paihia Wharf board the Fullers luxury catamaran for the most popular cruise in the Bay of Island. The high speed vessel will whisk you on a comfortable journey out through game fishing waters to the Cape Brett lighthouse. Motukokako Island and the famous 'Hole in the Rock',the excitement grows as we make passage through the Hole and on to the majestic Grand Cathedral Cave(subject to sea conditions). On the return journey we take our time and meander through the inner islands. View sandy beaches, beautiful bays and marine wildlife as your skipper gives an informative commentary. Also included is an island stopover on beautiful Urupukapuka Island where there are numerous activities. Enjoy one of the scenic walks, a swim, ride the Subsea Adventure, or relax in the cafe where a range of delicious snacks and meals are available(at own cost). This afternoon time is available for optional sightseeing.

Day 3 - Waitangi or Opua/Auckland (235kms)
Make your way back to Auckland. Tour ends with returning your rental car upon your arrival in Auckland.

Standard tours include accommodation in comfortable touring hotels. Deluxe tours include more intimate accommodation in lodges, country houses and small hotels offering a warm welcome and personal service. With Deluxe hotels breakfast is included.
