13 Day New Zealand Discovery - Small Group Tour

Day 1 On arrival into Christchurch you will be transferred to your boutique lodge accommodation for a welcome dinner and drinks with your fellow travellers. Next morning board the TranzAlpine train and travel in a private viewing carriage as you journey through the Southern Alps to Hokitika and onwards to Franz Josef where you will get to view the impressive glacier.

 

Day 3 There’s time for an optional flight over the glacier before continuing along the shores of Lake Wanaka and on to picture perfect Queenstown. Your accommodation is set amidst rolling hills framed by the Remarkable Mountain Range. Enjoy a full day at your leisure before a memorable dinner on Bob’s Peak with sweeping views overlooking Queenstown. A highlight of your time in this region will be an overnight Cruise over Milford Sound with a chance to kayak over the Sound’s crystal calm waters.

 

Day 6 Enjoy a scenic journey and ferry transfer to New Zealand’s third island. Your overnight stay on Stewart Island is a treat for any nature lover. Brimming with unique fauna and flora the island also allows you the opportunity to spot the elusive Kiwi bird.

 

Day 8 This morning you will return to Queenstown for your onward flight to the North Island’s thermal region and the town of Rotorua. Witness bubbling mud pools and erupting geysers of Te Puia before enjoying a traditional Maori Hangi feast. Visit the entertaining Agrodome Sheep Show and Waitomo Glow worm Caves on route to the picturesque costal region of the Coromandel Peninsula.

 

Day 10 Travel to Auckland for a city sightseeing tour and free time to explore New Zealand’s largest city. The following day delve into the history and natural significance of the region with a Maori led tour leading you to the Bay of Islands. Enjoy a trip to Russell, the first European settlement in the country as well as a memorable cruise around the islands before heading back to Auckland and your onward journey.
