Terms & Condition
Driver qualifications Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have held a valid driving licence for at least one year. Licences issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by an International Drivers Permit. There's no extra charge for additional authorised drivers.
The Rental When taking delivery of your car, you will be asked to sign Hertz's own terms and conditions of hire making the rental subject to a direct contract between each driver and the car hire company. A credit card imprint will be taken to cover additional costs such as fuel, damage excess and optional services. All major credit cards accepted.
Restrictions and One Way Rentals The minimum rental period is 3 days. For 1-way rentals between the North and South Islands, the minimum rental period on one island is 3 days with the vehicle being dropped at the ferry or airport and a new vehicle collected within 5 hours at the next island. There is no one-way fee between main centres. Car types shown are subject to availability and models may vary.
Damage excess An excess of NZ$2812.50 applies to all accidents (NZ $3375 for groups J-K). This can be reduced to nil by purchase of Accident Excess Reduction locally at NZ$28.13 per day (NZ $33.75 per day for group K) plus Goods and Service Tax. Alternatively this may be prepaid in the UK at £12 per day (£17 for group K) or £15 (£20) including airport/ferry collection fees.
Our Price Includes: Unlimited kilometres, accidental damage cover (excluding excess), third party liability and Goods and Services Tax.
Not Included: Airport and ferry concession fees, accident excess reduction, fuel, and optional extras such as baby seats. All extras are subject to GST and are payable locally.
