Our Prices Include Unlimited kilometres, government service tax and stamp duty, vehicle collision damage insurance (excluding excess) and third party liability.

Not Included in the Prices Airport recovery and registration fees, accident excess reduction, fuel and optional extras such as baby seats and booster seats. All extras are subject to government taxes and are payable locally.

Car types shown are subject to availability and may be substituted with a similar model if necessary.

Terms and Conditions

Driver qualifications Drivers must be a minimum of 21 years of age (25 for groups F and T) and have held a valid driving licence for at least one year. Drivers under the age of 25 incur a surcharge of $16.50 per day with a maximum charge of $115.50. There’s no extra charge for additional authorised drivers.

The Rental When taking delivery of your car, you will be asked to sign Hertz’s own terms and conditions of hire making the rental subject to a direct contract between each driver and the car hire company. A credit card imprint will be taken to cover additional costs such as fuel, damage excess and optional services. All major credit cards accepted.

Restrictions and one way rentals Driving into or out of Tasmania is not permitted. Vehicles except 4WD, may only be driven on sealed roads. 4WD may be taken on unsealed roads, except certain roads in NT and WA. Group A vehicles are not available for one way rentals and cannot be taken into NT or WA. The minimum rental period for one way hire is 3 days, or 7 days into NT or WA. Itineraries that include NT or WA may incur one way fees. 4WD group V is available for one way rentals within NT and WA only.

Damage excess An excess of $2750 applies to all accidents. This can be reduced to $385 by purchase of accident excess reduction locally at $23.00 per day or $29.00 in NT and WA. For 4WD vehicles, higher excess and excess reduction charges apply - ask for details. Alternatively standard excess reduction may be prepaid in the UK at £12 per day or £15 in NT and WA.
