Darwin
The capital of the Northern Territory lies at its beautiful 'Top End' surrounded by ancient rainforest and untamed wilderness. Darwin is a thriving, prosperous and modern city with a year round tropical climate and friendly locals. There are lively bars, restaurants and cafés around the newly developed Wharf Precinct, plus markets to visit, as well as a crocodile farm.
East of Darwin is the magnificent Kakadu National Park, a vast region of wetlands and rainforest, teeming with native wildlife. Look out for Aboriginal rock art or take a cruise along the Alligator River.
Nearby Litchfield National Park has a beauty of its own, with tumbling waterfalls, crystal clear swimming holes, rainforest and wonderful bush walks.
